FMover - RemoteAccess V2.00 File Mover
Version 1.0
This program will allow you to tag any number of files in one area
and move them to another file area. You do not have to move Blocks
of files, you may individually tag them.
This version does not support the file locking used for the files database.
Please run this ONLY with all nodes shut down.
I have used this myself, and fixed all the bugs I have found, but
we all know that, odds are, its gonna trash SOMEONE's file base.
Please make a backup of your FDB files BEFORE you run this for the
first time.
A couple of the features:
- Tag individual files, not BLOCKS of files.
- Tag by Filename Match (Wildcards ok)
- Tag By Keyword Match (matches against filename, or description
text)
- Jump To Next Tagged File (To review after a tag by filename or
keyword)
- Always shows you how many files are tagged, and total size.
- Will NOT allow you to even attempt copying to a CDRom
- As you highlight an area, it shows the drive space free.
- Checks Free Disk Space before attempting copy.
- Allows you to assign a NEW Area for each file, then move them
all at once.
This is by no means meant to replace RaMgr. There are many things
this software will NOT do, such are delete files, rename files,
import files, Sort areas, and the list goes on. What it does do, is
make that monthly job of moving new files into their proper area
much easier.
FMover looks for the FILES.RA and CONFIG.RA files in the directory
pointed to by the RA environment variable.
This program is limited to 1000 File Areas and 1500 files per area
If anyone needs more right away, let me know.
If you wish, you may specify a /LIST on the commandline and FMover
will create an ASCII File called 'FMover.Lst' which will list all
your file areas. This will come in handy if you want to assign new
file areas by number. Simply print it out, and keep it handy.
When you are in a file area, hit RETURN at a file, and you will be
prompted for the area to move the file to. This is where the list
comes in handy. Once you have tagged all the files you want to move
with their new areas numbers, simply hit Alt-M to move ALL files to
their new areas...
